Few head coaches in today’s NFL have experienced the level of success from start to finish that John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens has. The veteran coach is 172-109 (.612) in the Charm City in 16 seasons with the club and Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl odds reflect that the team is expected to contend again in the 2024-25 NFL season.
Throw in a Super Bowl win over his brother Jim and you have a pretty good synopsis of the respect that Harbaugh has earned during his 16 years running the Ravens. But there’s one area where the veteran NFL head coach is lacking. That area would be Harbaugh’s pedestrian stats against the spread.
This year, Harbaugh and the Ravens sit at +1000 to win the Super Bowl at Maryland sportsbooks, ranking third in the league behind the Kansas City Chiefs (+500) and San Francisco 49ers (+600). That got BetMaryland.com thinking about where the 61-year-old Ohio native ranks among active coaches in the league.

Harbaugh has the fourth-most wins among active coaches behind Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs (283), Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers (181) and Mike McCarthy of the Dallas Cowboys (178). But ATS, Harbaugh ranks 15th among NFL coaches in record overall (52.7%) and he’s tied for 20th leaguewide when it comes to covering the spread at home (47.0%). Where Does Harbaugh Rank in NFL?
In his 281-game NFL coaching career, Harbaugh’s 52.7% ATS percentage ranks 15th leaguewide. Many of the coaches ahead of him, naturally, have a much smaller sample size, such as ATS leaders Antonio Pierce of the Las Vegas Raiders (87.5%), Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions (67.9%) and New York Giants coach Brian Daboll (62.8%).
Overall, Harbaugh’s ATS figure ranks between Kyle Shanahan of the 49ers (52.8%) and DeMeco Ryans of the Houston Texans (52.6%), speaking to the razor thin margins in today’s NFL. These figures from nfeloapp.com include playoff games. They exclude coaches who departed from their clubs after last season.

This year, Harbaugh and the Ravens open up shop in the regular season against the two-time defending Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, on Sept. 5 at Arrowhead Stadium. Baltimore currently is listed as a 2.5-ponit road underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook Maryland, with a +124 moneyline for the visitors from the Old Line State as of Aug. 21.
