There has been a bevy of activity this week in the NFL, and it figures to stay busy right up to the draft in Detroit, April 25-27.
BetMaryland.com, always thinking Maryland sports betting, was curious to see what kind of production teams have received for their first-round picks in the past 10 years. Utilizing Pro-Football-Reference.com, we used the approximate value (AV) statistic to combine the total approximate value of the career of each NFL team’s first-round selections from the 2014 to 2023 drafts. The teams were then ranked on the AV per pick to see what team has utilized their picks the best. Here are the results:

Ravens Fare Well in Study
The Baltimore Ravens placed seventh among all 32 NFL teams with an average approximate value per pick of 32.9. However, the Ravens top all teams with a total approximate value of 428 and are tied for first place with the New York Jets for with the number of first-round draft picks (13).
Topping the ranking are the Los Angeles Rams (285) with an AV per pick of 71.3 (four first-round picks, lowest of all teams), 30 more than the second-place Dallas Cowboys (372) at 41.3.
Rounding out the top five:
- Chicago Bears, 253 (36.1, seven first-rounders)
- Buffalo Bills 322 (35.8, nine)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers 312 (34.7, nine)
