Looking at the Best-Worst Months Recently for Orioles Baseball
Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

The most exciting team in Major League Baseball that doesn’t employ Shohei Ohtani resides in the Charm City, with the Baltimore Orioles looking to break the franchise’s 41-year title drought this fall.

Fresh off the team’s first 100-win season in 43 years – one that delighted fans and kept Maryland sports betting humming - the O’s are loaded with fresh-faced talent. They are looking to repeat as AL East champs for the first time since legendary manager Earl Weaver led them to titles in 1973 and 1974.

It seems like oddsmakers at ESPN BET Maryland are buying into Baltimore’s potential, giving the O’s +1200 World Series odds, which ranks fifth overall behind the Dodgers (+375), Atlanta Braves (+550), Houston Astros (+800) and New York Yankees (+900).

Over at Caesars Sportsbook Maryland, you will find +1600 AL MVP odds for catcher Adley Rutschman and +2200 odds for infielder Gunnar Henderson (ranking eighth and 11th, respectively) in a tie for seventh leaguewide) and +1000 Cy Young odds for Corbin Burnes (tied for third). That gives you a snapshot of why the Old Line State is batty for their O’s in 2024.

So, with the MLB season right around the corner, BetMaryland.com – your source for Maryland sportsbook promo codes – is dissecting the Orioles in every which way. As an example, we used Baseball-Reference.com to pull the Orioles’ records from the past three years to see in which month the team plays best. Based on the data, the team plays best in July with a 43-30 record and .589 win loss percentage. Here are the numbers:

Baltimore Orioles Best Month

Rank, Month Record Winning Pct.
1. July 43-30 .589
T-2. September 42-42 .500
T-2. April 42-42 .500
4. June 37-40 .481
5. August 39-43 .476
6. May 35-51 .407

Closer Look at Each Month

Since 2021, the O’s best month in terms of raw win percentage has been July, at .589. The only other months in which Baltimore has posted a non-losing figure were September and April, where they went 42-42 and 37-37 to finish at .500 in each.

The next closest months for Baltimore, success wise, were June (.481 win percentage), August (.476) and May (.407), illustrating how difficult it is to win consistently at the MLB level.

For Baltimore, it seems like Maryland betting apps don’t foresee much of an issue winning enough to make the playoffs once again. For instance, ESPN BET has the Orioles win total over/under at 90.5 with -225 odds of reaching the playoffs (to +180 that they don’t).

For now, the O’s are looking to get back into game shape ahead of the team’s Opening Day clash with the Los Angeles Angels at Camden Yards on March 28.
