March proved to be madness in Maryland as official monthly casino figures were released by Maryland Lottery and Gaming (MLG) on Friday.
Maryland’s six privately owned casinos combined for an impressive 11.9% increase compared to February. Maryland casinos generated $178,137,823 million in revenue, up from February ($159,226,677), and up 0.9% ($1,613,239) from March 2023 ($176,524,584). March was the fifth-best single-month total in the history of the state’s casino program.
Contribution to the state from casino gaming totaled more than $76,473,835, an increase of $1,924,683 (2.6%) compared to March 2023. Also, contributions to the Education Trust Fund were more than $55.15 million, a slight increase of $993,087 (1.8%) compared to March 2023.
No iGaming in Maryland Yet
Legislation aimed at making online Maryland casinos stalled recently.
Two iGaming bills had been filed in the state. One is House Bill 1319, sponsored by Del. Vanessa Atterbeary, D-Fulton. The other, Senate Bill 603, is from Sen. Ron Watson, D-Bowie.
It now looks as if 2026 will be the next real chance in the state.
