After starting the season with a win total over/under of 86.5, it’s safe to say that the 2025 MLB season has fallen well short of expectations in the Charm City at Maryland sportsbooks, with the Baltimore Orioles getting off to a miserable, 15-31 (.326) start.
That total forced O’s owner David Rubenstein and his staff to fire manager Brandon Hyde, who went 421-493 (.461) since taking over in 2019. That got the team at BetMaryland.com thinking about who is next in line to manage the squad in 2026

Now that Rubenstein and O’s GM Mike Elias have opted to blow things up and boot Hyde midseason, there are plenty of good candidates out there for Baltimore to choose from when the 2025 MLB regular season comes to a close.
That’s because the club has in-house and outside options to consider, including current interim manager and former Orioles’ bench coach Tony Mansolino, who previously was the interim bench coach for the Cleveland Guardians while then-manager Terry Francona was away due to health reasons.
There’s also a chance that Baltimore goes a bit off script and picks a candidate from the club’s MiLB system, which would open the door for former Bowie Baysox (AA) and Norfolk Tides (AAA) manager and current major league coach Buck Britton, who led the former to two consecutive Eastern League Championship series in 2019 and 2021 before guiding the Tides to the Triple-A National Championship and winning the International League Manager of the Year Award in 2023.
Of the O’s in-house candidates, Mansolino has the best odds at +225, while the team’s former bench coach, Fredi Gonzalez (+600) and Britton (+3000) are longer shots to take over in the Charm City. Mansolino has gone 11-8 as the interim, and the O's are taking a 6-game win streak into the weekend. Not too shabby.
Another candidate that Rubenstein and company could consider is former Texas Rangers manager and current Arizona Diamondbacks bench coach Jeff Banister, who won the 2015 AL Manager of the Year award while going 325-313 (.509) with Texas from 2015 to 2018. Throw in household names like Joe Maddon, who led the Chicago Cubs to the club’s first title since 1908 in 2016, and former Seattle Mariners skipper Scott Servais and you have a pretty good snippet of the names that Baltimore could consider in 2026 to replace Hyde on the bench.
There’s also a chance that Baltimore opts to go with a first-time manager, which could potentially open the door for a longtime bench coach like Danny Lehmann of the Los Angeles Dodgers or Kai Correa of the Cleveland Guardians, though our hunch is that the O’s will go with an experienced manager this go-round.
