Where Will Derrick Henry End Season On NFL Career Rushing List?

Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

For the first time in his 119-game NFL career, running back Derrick Henry will suit up for a team other than the Tennessee Titans this fall. That’s because the 30-year-old future Hall of Famer came to Baltimore this offseason. We will see how that affects Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl odds this season.

Henry enters the 2024-25 league year with 9,502 rushing yards and 90 touchdowns, posting an approximate career value of 73 according to Pro-Football-Reference.com.

BetMaryland.com, where you’ll find top Maryland sports betting coverage, broke down how far Henry needs to go to move up on the NFL’s all-time rushing yardage list from his current spot (36th overall).

This year, Henry will look to add a seventh 1,000-yard season to his career total in Charm City. The NFL regular season kicks off on Sept. 5 when the Ravens visit the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. See our Ravens vs. Chiefs odds guide for more details on the Thursday night opener.

Where Will Derrick Henry Wind Up?

Right now, Henry enters the 2024 NFL regular season 498 yards shy of the 10,000-yard plateau. If Henry reaches 10k, he would be 273 yards shy of Ottis Anderson, who is 30th overall on the league’s all-time list after a memorable run from 1979 to 1992 with the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Giants.

We give Henry +450 odds of running for 772 yards or more this season, which would move him past Anderson for 30th all-time. Remember, these odds are exclusive to BetMaryland.com, and won’t be listed at sportsbook operators offering the best Maryland sports betting promos.

Our odds of Henry slotting in just above Marshawn Lynch’s career total of 10,413, for 29th place on the career list, are even better at +400. To reach Beast Mode himself, Henry would have to rush for 911 yards in the season ahead, which he has done each year since his third NFL season in 2018.

Henry could pass another Titans icon, Eddie George (10,441 yards), for No. 28 on the list. We rate Henry’s odds of landing at exactly that spot after the season at +1750, mostly because the gap between 28th and 27th is so slim. TO catch George, Henry would have to gain 939 yards in 2024, which would be well within his reach given his 1,167-yard total with Tennessee a year ago.

The odds that Henry passes longtime NFL running back Tiki Barber (10,449 yards) and settles in at the No. 27 spot after this season are +300 – this scenario would be the favorite if this prop were available at Maryland sportsbook apps.

To pass Barber, Henry would need to gain 947 yards in the year ahead, while he would need 1,089 rushing yards with the Ravens to get past Thomas Jones at No. 26 all-time. The former Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears, New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs running back had 10,591 yards in his 12-year NFL career.

To reach the top 25 all time, Henry would need to run for more than 1,105 yards in 2024, equaling former Ravens legend Jamal Lewis’ career total of 10,607 yards. Ricky Waters would be the next player up (24th overall), with a career sum of 10,643 yards on the ground.

If Henry somehow matched his best full season rushing yardage total (2,027 yards in 2020), he’d sit at 11,529 for his career, which would put him ahead of Steven Jackson for 18th all time. We say “somehow” on that prop because, as great as Henry has been, there have only been eight 2,000-yard rushing seasons in NFL history and nobody has done it twice.

Our Baltimore Ravens betting guide has all the insights you need for wagering on the Charm City’s NFL team in the 2024-25 season.
