After consecutive postseason appearances but zero playoff series wins over the past two years, how will the Baltimore Orioles do for their fans and Maryland sports betting backers in 2025? Manager Brandon Hyde looks to get the American League East club over the hump this season and Baltimore has plenty of experienced players to help.
Spring Training starts in less than a month, so BetMaryland.com was curious which teams are projected to have the oldest rosters in the MLB. We looked at FanGraphs.com for projected 40-man rosters, calculated the average age for players on each team and ranked the top 10 oldest teams.
Rank | Team | Total Score |
1 | New York Mets | 29.60 |
2 | Los Angeles Dodgers | 29.42 |
3 | Baltimore Orioles | 28.97 |
4 | Philadelphia Phillies | 28.93 |
5 | New York Yankees | 28.91 |
6 | Houston Astros | 28.88 |
7 | Texas Rangers | 28.73 |
8 | Chicago Cubs | 28.62 |
9 | Toronto Blue Jays | 28.52 |
10 | San Diego Padres | 28.43 |
The O’s enter the season with +230 odds of winning the AL East for the second time in three seasons on DraftKings Maryland Sportsbook as of Jan. 29. That ranks behind the New York Yankees (+115) and ahead of the Boston Red Sox (+450), Tampa Bay Rays (+850) and Toronto Blue Jays (+1800).
Throw in +1400 odds of winning the franchise’s first World Series since 1983 and you have a pretty good scope of where oddsmakers see Baltimore going during the year ahead. Baltimore begins the regular season March 27 against the Blue Jays north of the border.
Futures betting is active now and there will be props, lines and more for individual games, offered by operators that have real money Maryland sportsbook promo codes for customers.
Of the 30 MLB teams, only the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers have a higher projected average age for their rosters than the O’s. The NL East franchise has an average age of 29.60 years among players that FanGraphs predicts for the 40-man roster, while the defending World Series champions from Tinseltown come in at 29.42.
Baltimore, by comparison, enters the 2025 MLB season with an average age of 28.97 years. That ranks ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies (28.93 years), Yankees (28.91), Houston Astros (28.88), Texas Rangers (28.73), Chicago Cubs (28.62), Blue Jays (28.52) and San Diego Padres (28.43) in the top 10.
In 2025, the most important thing for O’s fans and Maryland MLB betting won’t be the birth years of the 26 men that eventually make the team’s roster. Baseball fans in the Charm City are instead fixing their sights squarely on ending the franchise’s 42-year championship drought this fall.
