With spring training wrapped up, BetMaryland.com was curious how the Baltimore Orioles have historically done during the regular season, compared to their spring training results, to see if there were any Maryland sports betting trends. Using Baseball-Reference.com, we found spring training and regular-season winning percentages for each MLB team between 2022 and 2024. We calculated the difference in winning percentages, then ranked teams based on the difference. Based on the average difference between spring training and regular season over the past three years, we calculated the 2025 regular season winning percentage for the Orioles.
2025 Spring Training W-L% | 2022-24 Avg. Difference | 2025 Regular Season Projection |
.481 | Minus-.049 | .432 |
No concrete evidence exists to suggest that spring training exhibition results should be taken as proverbial tea leaves for MLB betting when it comes to the sport’s regular season. But we can discern a bit from them.
For instance, the O’s have fared slightly worse than their Grapefruit League final record in the regular season of late after wrapping up training in Sarasota, Florida. Baltimore has a winning percentage that’s .049 points worse than their average regular-season figure from 2022 to 2024.
Using that minus-.049 figure, we can ascertain that Baltimore’s regular season win percentage projection is .432, as the O’s finished 13-14 (.481) in Grapefruit League play. That would translate to a 70-92 season. But Baltimore Orioles World Series odds won’t shift much, if at all, based on spring results. A more likely event from spring is if a big player gets hurt and will miss extended time, then preseason odds might shift for teams.
Besides, such a result for the regular season at Oriole Park at Camden Yards would fly in the face of the club’s preseason win total. Baltimore’s over/under on DraftKings Sportsbook Maryland is 87.5 entering the season, as of March 26, the day before Opening Day. That prop has -120 odds on the over; anyone wagering on the under can get +100 odds from the Maryland sportsbook operator. We’ll know more once the season starts for real this week, of course.
For now, we’re left wonder whether manager Brandon Hyde can get the O’s into the postseason for a third straight season. The club last accomplished that feat between 1969 and 1971, when Baltimore won three straight AL pennants and a World Series in a three-year stretch.
The Orioles have +1600 odds at BetMGM Maryland Sportsbook to win their first World Series title since 1983.
