Anthony Santander Free Agent Odds

Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

The MLB season now in the rear-view mirror for Maryland sports betting, and free agency is slated to kick off soon. With that in mind, itā€™s worth wondering what will happen with Baltimore Oriolesā€™ All-Star outfielder Anthony Santander, who is a free agent for the first time this offseason.

BetMaryland.com developed exclusive odds projecting outfielder Anthony Santanderā€™s next landing spot. The Orioles made a qualifying offer to Santander, but he likely will decline it and land a larger deal by entering the free agency market.

Santander, an eighth-year outfielder out of Venezuela, is coming off a career year in the Charm City. In 2024, he had an OPS+ of 134 and his second-highest WAR total to date (2.9, according to baseball-reference.com data). That WAR was only 0.1 lower than Santander had in the Oriolesā€™ 2023 campaign, when he hit .257 with an OPS+ of 121 along with 28 home runs and 95 RBIs.

This season, Santander was even better offensively, with 44 home runs and 102 RBIs, both career highs, in 155 games. He posted his second highest OPS to date (.814) while anchoring Baltimoreā€™s lineup as the Orioles made the MLB Playoffs for a second straight season.

Where Will Anthony Santander Play Next?

The team at Spotrac.com gives Santander a market value of $17.7 million per year (five years, $88.687 million), which would dwarf his career earnings to date. The 30-year-old has made just under $26 million in his MLB career, which is why we see free-spending teams like the New York Mets (+300) and St. Louis Cardinals (+500) as our favorites to swoop in and snag Santander from the Orioles this offseason.

At BetMGM Maryland Sportsbook, as of Nov. 6, the Os hold +210 odds to win the American League East this season, second behind the defending AL pennant-winning New York Yankees (+150).

The odds that Santander either remains in Baltimore or signs with a team not mentioned on our list are pretty solid at +350. But itā€™s worth keeping an eye on potential suitors such as the Philadelphia Phillies, who come in at +700 to land the veteran outfielder, while the Detroit Tigers (+800) are a relative longshot.

Either way, Santander figures to make far more than he did in 2024, when he signed a one-year, $11.7 million deal to avoid arbitration with the Orioles before Opening Day.
