What Is the Least Recognizable MLB Logo?

Though the Baltimore Orioles have been around in their current form since the middle of the 20th century and have three World Series titles to their name, their logo is still a puzzler for some fans. The Charm City’s MLB franchise and its bird-centric logo recently finished as one of the least-recognized team emblems in the league.

BetMaryland.com wanted to figure out which MLB logos are the most forgettable and least recognizable. To do this, we used data collected from a quiz from Sporcle.com, a site where folks are asked to fill in the blanks for which logos go with which teams. We created a ranked list based on the percentage of quiz takers who guessed the logo correctly within a time limit, ranking the lowest percentage to the highest. Where Baltimore Orioles Rank

The Sporcle quiz asks respondents to identify MLB logos with any words removed from the logos.

Of the 30 teams in the MLB, only nine teams scored lower on the quiz above than Baltimore. Quiz takers correctly named the O’s 78.5% of the time, putting Baltimore just ahead of their DMV rivals from D.C., who were ninth overall with 77.6% when it came to correct guesses. Leaguewide, the San Francisco Giants had the hardest logo to recognize, with 60.7% of respondents correctly naming the team’s emblem. Not faring a lot better were the Milwaukee Brewers (61.5%), Minnesota Twins (67.3%), Tampa Bay Rays (72.0%) and Cleveland Guardians (74%) for being the toughest logos to name.

Throw in the Seattle Mariners (75.4%), Texas Rangers (76.9%) and Philadelphia Phillies (77.3%) and you have the full list of MLB teams with the hardest logos to pinpoint, giving Baltimore baseball fans company in their logo-based obscurity this baseball season.
